Located behind Campiglia Marittima and the promontory of Piombino, the park covers an area of approx 450 hectares. The tour routes wind through museums, mining galleries, a medieval village of miners and smelters founded about a thousand years ago, and paths of historical, archaeological, geological and naturalistic interest.
The visit of the Park starts from Museum of Archeology and Minerals and continues, with an expert guide, in the Temperino mine, to discover the evolution of mineral research and extraction techniques and the beauty and charm of the underground world.
After the visit to the mine, go up to Pozzo Earle, where the set-ups of the Machine Museums Minerarie e dei Minatori tell the visitor about the last decades of mining history. This leads to the visit by train of the Lanzi-Temperino Gallery, retracing the journey of minerals, from the mines of the Temperino Valley to the treatment plants of the Lanzi Valley.
In the background of Valle Lanzi stand the remains of the medieval Rocca San Silvestro, which represents the heart of the Park and its visit.
