Cribs of sand...in Rimini! Also this year the now traditional construction of sand nativity scenes has been confirmed. In the last few days they were inaugurated and their dimensions are truly remarkable. Two were built, one at the port of Rimini, piazzale Boscovich, near the Ice Village, and another in the hamlet of Torre Pedrera, on the beach of Bagno 64/65.
Obviously theadmission is free and so we went to visit them both. I can assure you that they are exceptional and it is not possible to help but be mesmerized by observing the abundance of details and the perfection with which the life-size nativities were made. The Christmas sets created are nothing short of impressive.
The two cribs were made by different teams, made up of real sand artists coming not only from Italy, but also from countries such as Holland, France, Turkey, Czech Republic and others.
The chosen settings are different. In the first, in Rimini, the artists dedicated themselves to landscapes of a Rimini of other times, then creating characters intent on their daily work, while in Torre Pedrera the setting of the Nativity at the port was chosen, where in the background it is possible to recognize here too the historical monuments of Rimini such as the Duomo or the Tiberius Bridge, for example, and of our hilly hinterland.
On weekends there will also be some entertainment for children, especially during the school holidays, and now we are. At each crib, just so that we do not miss anything, you will also be able to make some purchases since there will be small Christmas markets.
The cribs will be open from the 7 December 2013 to the 12 January 2014.
In addition to the sand nativity scenes, the Underwater nativity scene, the traditional Sea Nativity to new dock. On Christmas day, the ceremony begins at 17-30, the nativity scene is immersed on the seabed and, with the help of the naval forces and civil protection, is left to be admired until 6 January 2014.
For the occasion, on the day of the dive, hot chocolate, donut and mulled wine will be offered to all participants. In the adjacent spaces, outdoors, a small exhibition of cribs will be set up by the San Giuliano Tourist Committee.
The afternoon of the December 24 2013 the nativity scene depicting the Nativity is inaugurated in the splendid setting of the Arch of Augustus. The life-size representation is made every year by the young people of the socio-occupational centers of the Sergio Zavatta Rimini Association and remains to watch over the city until Epiphany.
