We are in northern Milan, in the heart of Lambrate, a historic district that has hosted factories, workers and railway workers and a stronghold of Milanese traditions. First town, then neighborhood, for some years Lambrate has been experiencing a "fashionable" rebirth following the establishment of spaces and design studios that have made it a real point of reference in the sector and district by now official of the annual Salone of Mobile.
La Santeria it is located in a quiet street: an open gate allows a glimpse of a narrow slope that opens onto a tidy courtyard and a few tables, perhaps a dozen. The interior of the bar instead has the appearance of aelegant coffee shop with large black boards positioned behind the counter listing the specialties of the day. L'atmosphere is relaxed, in full radical-chic style, ideal for finding some peace from the Milanese frenzy or after a busy day of work.
More than a place, Santeria is a café, where you can stop for a good breakfast, a lunch with particular and tasty flavors - the sandwiches are a bomb! - until an aperitif or an early dinner, because everything closes at ten. L'appetizer it is my favorite moment to spend here: there is a long list of cocktails as well as commercial and craft beers, while as far as food is concerned, here we deviate from the traditional buffet (and binge) ritual. Once the drink is ordered, in fact, the courses are served one after the other, so there is no risk of filling up with food even before having taken the first sip from the glass and enjoying the flavors more without the fear that other people sitting at the table with us they appropriate the last piece of pizza. Sometimes the selected menu is vegetarian with delights such as parmigiana, fresh bruschetta and spelled salad.
However, the Santeria is not just a club, but above all a multifunctional space with a thousand uses and functions. There's a shop in which you can find books from independent publishing houses, selected clothing brands, as well as a music section.
Next to the cafeteria there is a room which is used for exhibition, screenings, exhibitions, courses, workshops and much more. On the upper floors, on the other hand, some offices host aco-working area in which to share offices, desks and hours of work in a creative, young and dynamic environment at truly advantageous prices.
Whether it is for a genuine breakfast, for an aperitif that sets a certain tone, to take a tour of the interesting shop or to share ideas and work with other young people, Santeria is a café and an original space in an area of Milan absolutely to (re) discover!
