Sergels Torg it is the central square of Stockholm today, so not in the old part, but in the heart of the City. Here, among other things, there is an important road junction on which the Sveavägen and other famous streets in the center converge.
The square is characterized by the presence of one large crystal fountain just over 37 meters high. The work is by Edvin Öhström and is from 1974. The work is famous because it is built on two levels: the upper one with the fountain, and the lower one where the underground station, several shops and some supermarkets are located.
The square was built in sixties, after the demolition of old buildings in the previous decade. If you go to this square in the winter one of the slopes is made every year ice skating most important and beautiful in the city.
