Stockholm, three things to do for free, from the house of culture, Kulturhuset, to the changing of the guard, to a visit to Drottinghol Park.
Stockholm it is a rather expensive city and there is no museum or attraction that is not paid for. Apart from strolling through the beautiful streets of the center or the urban parks, there are three activities that I recommend to make a stay in Stockholm a little cheaper:
1. Changing of the Guard
Attending the changing of the guard in front of the royal palace. Every day, around 12, the changing of the guard takes place in the square in front of the building. The ceremony is long and elaborate, with variations in ceremonial and times depending on the season, with music and hymns or parades of horses and riders.
2. Drottinghol Park
Stroll through the Drottingholm park. The park of the royal palace of Drottingholm is free to access and you can stroll peacefully among the garden paths, between hedges, paths, ponds and fountains, as in a small miniature Versailles. In the park there are various pavilions and gardens in different styles: French, Chinese, English. The whole Drottingholm complex is a UNESCO heritage site and once in the park it is worthwhile to enter the palace and especially the baroque theater with its original stage machines from the 1700s.
3. Kulturhuset
Visit the house of culture. There The Culture House it is open for free to the public and, even if it is little frequented by tourists, it can be a good time for low-cost leisure. The house hosts events of various kinds and has a very lively and interesting program. With a well-stocked film and music library, screening rooms, art workshops for young people and children and a digital art gallery, it's a place to visit, if only to grab a coffee or an honestly priced lunch in the top coffee shop. floor, overlooking the lively square of Sergels Torg.
