Bike Sharing in Stockholm is the ideal way to visit the city without spending a fortune. Here's how you can use it, how much it costs and the Swedish bike sharing service hours.
One of the best ways to visit and discover Stockholm it is definitely the bicycle. Scandinavian countries pay a great deal of attention to the issue of mobility and in order not to create problems due to the presence of bicycles in traffic, most of the cycle paths are an external part of the carriageway with special safe and signposted routes.
Stockholm is a very safe city, it is in fact possible to find bicycles resting on the street without any type of safety device for several hours or even for the whole night, however, we recommend that you still use a chain to be more relaxed, especially if the bike you use is for hire.
Rent a bike in the city it is not difficult: they exist one hundred and ten stations for the bike sharing scattered in every corner of the city and each of these stations has ten or twenty bikes available.
The service is called "Stockholm City Bikes”, A seasonally active service from 1st April until 31st October. To pick up the bicycle from the station, just go to one of the many stalls in the city and swipe the card into the reader; the display will show the number of the stall from which to take the bike. For safety reasons the stall release period is 30 seconds, so hurry up.
The use of these bicycles is limited during the hours of the day: they can be taken from 6 in the morning and the loan ends at 22, but it is still possible to deposit the bicycle you have until 01.00 at night. In addition to the normal respect and care that must be given to rental equipment, the rule is that the same bicycle cannot be used for more than three hours; if you leave your bicycle after the time limit, an infringement will be automatically added to your card; after the third infringement the card is blocked automatically and it is necessary to redo it.
