Skiing in Obereggen, South Tyrol, a UNESCO World Heritage Site for both, tobogganing or snowshoeing.
At the foot of Latemar is the village of Obereggen, Unesco Natural Heritage which with its 1550 meters offers a breathtaking view of the Dolomites.
Obereggen has 48km of slopes, modern ski lifts and is one of the most popular ski resorts in South Tyrol. Born about ten years ago with the construction of the facilities of the Ski Center Latemar, has 18 ski lifts that are connected with the ski centers of Pampeago and Predazzo.
Snow activities
For experienced skiers we recommend, in addition to slopes suitable for any type of difficulty, night skiing that allows you to see incredible views and experience unique emotions. From 19pm to 22pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, it is possible to ski and sled until evening. In this case the tickets are separate and I recommend you visit the Obereggen official website for more information.
For those who do not want or do not know how to ski or for children (or at the end of a long day on the slopes) there are toboggan runs with tracks ranging from 800 to 3000 meters of descent, surrounded by incredible views. Those who love snowboarding can count on 48km of perfectly groomed slopes a a few km from Bolzano. For years there has also been a snow park in Obereggen, where there are over thirty structures built and always kept in excellent condition, thanks also to a very modern artificial snow system; the snowpark it can also count on a large number of eves
For those who do not know how to ski, but are attracted to landscapes and snow, there is always the possibility of doing some snowshoeing with snowshoes. In this way you can combine the love of snow and the beauty of the South Tyrolean areas, without skiing. For snowshoeing on fresh snow and observing the surrounding landscapes, you can follow one of the many trails that the Obereggen area offers. Easy routes, lasting 50 minutes, up to slightly more difficult routes, in terms of time and distance, but still exciting.
