We all know that when we talk about Salento we are not referring only to tourist resorts such as Gallipoli or Porto Cesareo, taken by storm in the summer. We refer to the whole southern part of Puglia, also known as the Salento peninsula that embraces the entire province of Lecce and the southern areas of the provinces of Brindisi and Taranto, including the two capitals. Salento is a special area of Puglia and really deserves to be explored far and wide.
Lecce: a summer away from chaos
Among these today I want to tell you about Lecce: a wonderful city full of history where the baroque is depopulated in every corner. A perfect city to stay in the summer away from the chaos. You will have the opportunity to fill your eyes with beauty and culture with the sea just a few kilometers away. In Lecce, in fact, the sea is only 10 km away with the famous beaches of San Cataldo, while the famous Gallipoli is 30 km away. The historic center of Lecce is very pretty, the Baroque style and the Lecce stone are the common thread of all the artistic and architectural part of the small Salento center enclosed within 4 ports: Porta Napoli, Porta San Biagio, Porta Rudiae and Porta San Martino destroyed in the 800th century.
Up Room & Suite in Lecce: what to expect
During my weekend in Lecce I had the pleasure of staying at the B& B Up Room & Suite of Lecce. A lovely property located in the center of Lecce, a 15-minute walk from the train station and a few minutes from Piazza Sant'Oronzo and Piazza Mazzini, the main squares of the city.
Up Room & Suite Lecce: structure and breakfast
The location is really great to move comfortably on foot without having to use the car and not to be in the ZTL, present in the streets adjacent to the b & b. The only flaw is the paid parking on the blue lines. Have the privilege of move on foot in my opinion, the place you choose to spend your summer holidays is very important.
The structure is an ancient building renovated in a modern way, developed on three floors. It has an internal garden where you can enjoy breakfast which I can guarantee is very good and varied. It is served buffet style and offers homemade desserts, many of which are linked to the Salento tradition such as pasticciotti, fresh fruit and savory dishes as well as any type of drink.
Rooms
Up Room & Suite in Lecce has 3 suites each with its own characteristic: the Luxury suite is characterized by a Lecce stone wall. The functional and versatile space of the mezzanine is the hallmark of the Loft suite. Finally, the red buttoned sofa is the main feature of the Garden suite.
But there are also standard rooms that have nothing to envy to the previous ones, they are minimal and modern rooms, tastefully furnished and above all very spacious, overlooking the street or the internal garden, some of which are also suitable for families.
The good value for money of this structure really left me speechless and I sincerely recommend it to us who intends to stay in Lecce for a few days.
