Because of the jump in temperature, sun and salt, the hair during the trip is particularly stressed and split ends pop out. They are often dry, dehydrated, stringy, so cutting becomes necessary. Also, as summer and summer holidays get closer and closer, all these factors tend to increase and the situation worsens. For this reason, Viaggi-low cost dedicates a specific post to you for the most common hair needs in this type of holiday. So how can we do to delay the cut as much as possible? Can we prepare our hair for the trip? And can we also protect them during? Of course yes! Let's see together how.
Travel preparation
Apply a mask on the hair a few days before leaving, you will find many on the market, in particular I recommend masks Helan, not only for the excellent inci but also for the effectiveness of the products. Choose especially masks with a strengthening and nourishing action. Do not immediately throw away the package once finished, you may need to keep a homemade one.
You can also make one in house with what you have in the cupboard: peel an apple and blend it, or crush it, together with a spoonful of honey or extra virgin olive oil. Apply the mixture to dry hair and leave it on for about 30 minutes.
If you have particularly thin and stressed hair, I suggest you apply thehenna quinquina, Sitarama produces it and you can easily find it in herbal medicine. It is a compound that will not give you color, but it is a real cure-all for split ends and brittle hair. If you thought about using such a product, now is the right time to do it.
During the trip
During the trip, having to stay under the sun, there discourage to apply oils as they would attract the sun's rays more with all the cons that would derive from it. I recommend a homemade protective spray. Here's what you need:
a spray container, you can recycle a used one or buy one at a home improvement store, in which to dilute all the following ingredients
a spoonful of aloe gel
50ml of water
a tablespoon of apricot juice, you can safely squeeze apricots (and eat them!) or buy one at the supermarket, make sure it contains a high percentage of fruit (minimum 80%).
a spoonful of lemon juice which is an excellent preservative, polishing and astringent, will help the hair to get less dirty
a teaspoon of henna quinquina. So put very little and make sure it melts well. You can also want to use another type of henna, to intensify the highlights and shine the hair.
The aesthetic effect of this spray is to slightly stiffen the hair, fix it a little and protect it. I advise you to apply it especially when your hair is tied up, like when you know you have to stay out all day at the beach or go on a hike, in short, on all those occasions when you know you need to keep your hair tied and whenever you know that they could easily get stressed out. You can also avoid doing it at home, if you bring the aloe gel with you, just bring the spray and you can do the spray in the hotel to avoid the problem of liquids. The main ingredient is aloe gel, so you can safely drop everything else. Also, if you avoid henna, you could also use it as a refreshing body spray. In short, by playing with the ingredients we obtain various types of products. There are also protective sprays on the market specifically for the sun and UV rays, but they are not easily available and most of the time you can find them in hairdressing salons at not very low prices, so I recommend you make it yourself.
Once in the hotel during your shower you can wash them normally without any precautions other than using the right brush: to detangle wet hair, use a silicone brush: the very famous Tangle Teezer. I think it's one of the best hair investments you can make especially if they normally break easily in the brush and cause you pain. This is an incredibly comfortable brush to use as opposed to what it might look like when you see it (not having a long handle). Bring it with you, you will not regret it. There are numerous imitations on the market so before you spend on the Tangle Teezer you might want to try a cheaper "transition" version. However, I think it is an excellent investment to take it immediately, it is very difficult for you to feel bad.
With heat and humidity it is practically impossible for many to let their hair down. The advice is to avoid tying them by pulling them too, it is better to opt for very soft hairstyles. The traction that is created is harmful to the hair and if done continuously it not only weakens them but in the most serious cases it leads to problems of alopecia.
If you have long hair, go for a side braid. In order not to get bored you can opt for various types, herringbone or the 4 strand braid that I recommend especially if you have little hair because it makes them look more voluminous (youtube is full of very easy tutorials).
If you have medium-long / medium hair, try not to make a ponytail too pulled often, opt for the various types of combs on the market, such as easily resealable fishbone combs and especially those that with a few moves manage to keep the hair styled for a long time in a few simple steps: it is a very easy to find and very cheap object that will keep your hair hair away from the nape of the neck but it won't stress them out and some are also beautiful to look at.
Also, if you plan to do the fringe soon, perhaps it is better to wait for autumn, with the sweat on your forehead you will never be able to bear this type of cut and you will end up having to pull it up with a peak or with various ferrettini. Rather prefer a tuft, even if short, it is easier to manage.
And if you want to leave your hair free but still want to pull it a little back, in addition to the classic browbands, you can look for mini rectangular and long scarves and use them as a headband, tie a knot under the nape and let the rest of the scarf on the shoulders.
I hope these tips will be useful to you, see you next time!
