About thirty kilometers from Rimini, perched on a spike of rock stands San Leo. Its ancient fort, better known as 'La rocca', which dominates the Valmarecchia and the Romanesque cathedral, which incorporate the remains of a medieval church, as well as the whole village, are certainly worth a Sunday trip.
Rather popular destination for groups of tourists, especially on weekends, if in addition to taking a walk you also want to eat, you should book a few days in advance ... just so as not to repeat what happened to us on the only sunny Sunday of this day. spring!
Sunday morning, we decide to take the car and go to San Leo. I've been wanting to try a certain restaurant for a while (I'll tell you about it as soon as I can try it!), So while we are walking along via Marecchiese I call to book a table for 2. Result? there is no room, not even after 14pm.
Once in San Leo I don't get discouraged, not even after seeing 4 buses parked at the entrance to the town, and I head towards the restaurant in question with the idea of drinking a glass of wine while waiting for a table to become available. The no we receive is categorical: there is no place!
We give up and, after taking a tour, we look out at the entrance to the Guards Tavern.
We ask for a table. A girl explains clearly that there is a lot to wait for the restaurant, but if we want cold cuts and cheeses in ten minutes we can manage.
We sit outside in the sun. After a quarter of an hour they arrive to take the order. Respecting our part of the agreement we order a salami and cheese plate, accompanied by piadina and a bottle of water - also because the bread, as well as the wine, is finished ...
Too bad they didn't respect their part and our cutting board arrived after 45 minutes, when the little water left had become boiling and we were now thinking of leaving ...
Maybe next time we try the restaurant ... booking in advance, of course!
