Summer is not a season but a state of mind was acting in a famous film and although everyone is free to interpret this sentence in their own way, one can only agree.
For me the word summer it is equivalent to serenity and lightheartedness, to days spent in absolute relaxation between the beach and the sea; for me summer is Salento.

1. Bar del Moro - San Gregorio, Patù
I'll get right to the point: this is one of my favorite places by far.
The aperitif is based on pittule, taralli and bruschetta and on order they prepare mixed fried fish.
No table service, you order drinks at the counter and take a seat at one of the tables overlooking the small Bay of San Gregorio, a breathtaking location that offers a sensational sunset over the sea.
2. Barrueco - Santa Caterina
Wooden tables and chairs for an unpretentious location, which focuses above all on the magnificent panorama.
This place offers a sea view aperitif with a varied and interesting proposal of appetizers and if at the end you are still hungry, try the delicious pizza prepared in the oven.
If you are a lover of pesto, here is one more reason to go to Barrueco: according to the Salento people, here they make the best mojito in the area.
3. Kilometro Zero - Galatone
Kilometro zero is a unique place of its kind: the bar is nothing more than a chiringuito close to the rocks that offers a postcard sunset.
The place is absolutely informal, you come here directly after a day spent on the beach; the dress code is swimsuit and flip flops.
Vintage furniture and background music accompany your aperitif overlooking the sea in a location from the past.

4. Casaccia La Parabirreria - Torre Dell'Orso
La Casaccia is one of the latest new entries in the scenario of the clubs of the Adriatic coast and in a short time has managed to conquer the hearts of Salento and tourists, thanks to the wide choice of beers, more than Handmade 100 from all over the world, live music on summer evenings and a magnificent view of the Torre Dell'Orso beach.
Furniture chosen with great care, benefiting from the reuse of old chairs and tables, placed under trees illuminated by suggestive lights.
5. Babylon - St. Andrew
Historic restaurant of Salento with a splendid view of the small port of Sant'Andrea.
Inside you can breathe the sea breeze from the large windows, but on summer evenings it is mandatory to take a drink and sit outside, in one of the steps overlooking the beach; the magic is assured with the many spotlights that illuminate the sea at night.

6. Mistral - Otranto
If you happen to be in Otranto (and you will go there for sure) do not miss the atmosphere that reigns in this lounge bar located on the promenade of the village.
The place is mostly frequented in the late after dinner, but it is also worth a visit for the aperitif time.
Its strong point? Having the opportunity to have a drink while admiring both the sea and the sunset over the beautiful city of Otranto.
