You can't really miss it. Will remain at Forlì alone until June 14th. I'm talking about the exhibition dedicated to Giovanni Boldini, born in Ferrara in 1842 but lived most of his life in Paris where he was one of the most prolific Italian painters of his time, particularly in the field of portraiture.
La his career was very long, lived almost 90 years, and shortly after his death was defined "the classic of a genre of painting". Boldini had great success in life, although often sparking controversy between the public and critics. And it is in the most beautiful years of the Ville Lumiere that it is introduced in the salons frequented by the Goncourt brothers, by Proust, by Montesquiou, by Degas and by Helleu.
The exhibition provides a more complete and articulated vision on the works of the Ferrara artist, not only the paintings, but also the drawings, the watercolors, the sketches and engravings.
His work depicting Giuseppe Verdi can only be known to you, right from school books, and the story goes that it was one of the portraits from which Boldini was never able to part.
And for his portraits of women, well, for those there are no words, you have to observe them closely to be enchanted in every single detail. Elegant women of high society who pose for him dressed in sumptuous dresses, flowers and porcelain leather. Figures in motion, caught in the moment of change, hands that seek, hands that are about to make a gesture. Perfectly outlined figures that end up in abstract painting. The gallery dedicated to these portraits of women is a real daydream.
In addition, the exhibition venue is really beautiful, hosted at the San Domenico Museums in Forlì. The gallery dedicated to the artist will be open from 1 February to 14 June 2015, from Tuesday to Friday from 9.30 to 19.00, while on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 9.30 to 20.00. On Mondays the exhibition is closed, while an extraordinary opening is scheduled for June 1st. Remember that the ticket office always closes one hour earlier.

Il full ticket has a cost of 11,00€, the reduced one (for groups of over 15 people, minors under 18 and over 65, university students, holders of special agreements, as well as residents in the province of Forlì-Cesena) of € 9,00. Reservation for large groups is mandatory but it is also recommended for individuals or small groups. There is also a special open ticket, at a cost of € 12,00, to be able to access the exhibition without predefined dates and times. Also great idea for a gift.
