I love porchetta, how could I miss a visit to Ariccia? Ariccia it is known by everyone and has always been the home of porchetta. Here there is only one street, long and dotted with restaurants and taverns that do one thing of all: an excellent porchetta.
Ariccia is one of the renowned Castelli Romani, of those sung in dozens of songs, those where you eat and drink well and spend even better. But even in Ariccia the rip-offs are lurking also because you know, when the place starts to pull the prices and the rip-offs do not take long to be felt.
Personally I let myself be advised and I chose theOsteria dar Vignarolo which offers indoor seats in summer and winter (but in summer it is not convenient because the air conditioning is not strong at all), in summer also outdoor seats, sometimes even sharing the table with complete strangers. For me, for example, this detail was not important :)
The Osteria dar Vignarolo is not located in the street where all the other fraschette are located which is via Strada Nuova, but is located just below this one, you will see it immediately anyway, which is via Focaccia. The sign can also be seen from via Strada Nuova, don't worry. In fact, the other places seemed a little touristy, a little too artificial, the Osteria dar Vignarolo, it doesn't need to attract customers, it is one of the worst advertised places I have ever been, but like you eat here in few places.
What are we eating, here we have fun. I only managed to eat the appetizers. They are very abundant and if you take the porchetta you will be satisfied immediately. Too bad I didn't taste the first courses that they told me phenomenal, I'll be back another time to try at least a couple!
Lazio ham, mozzarella di bufala, Roman ricotta, various cheeses of the Lazio tradition, pork and wild boar sausages, coppiette, in oil and vinegar, sweet and spicy olives e homemade bread, fresh from the day and obviously the popular Porchetta.
Among the first: bucatini all'amatriciana, spaghetti carbonara, repentant all'arrabbiata, pappardella with wild boar, polenta with ribs and sausages, orecchiette der Vignarolo. The second courses do not disappoint: steaks, chops, sausages, sheep's kebabs, smoked cheese.
Advice: midweek parking is € 1 per hour, while on weekends and holidays it is good € 2 per hour. If you have time, take a nice walk and leave the car outside the city. Of course you will walk a little, but sure you will have saved at least 5 €. Good porchetta!
