Three tips to save in Burano, from Venice which vaporetto to take and why be careful how to get on the Burano - Murano route and vice versa, packed lunches and photos in quantity, all in the post.
Di Burano I have already spoken on one occasion, but I have not yet told you how visit it in a low cost way. After having been there, here's what I recommend, so as not to spend a fortune (believe me, it might be possible) and visit it at its best.
1. In Burano, packed lunch
First don't leave without a sandwich. No, don't think about making an aperitif with a spritz, it will support you at least € 10, spritz and sandwich, not even of too much quality. Burano is really beautiful but don't let the taverns and restaurants that are here approach you. The most expensive has first courses that come 25€, the least expensive has first courses that are 15 € with a bottle of water and a cover charge you would spend at least 25 €. Don't even think that being away from restaurants and going to a few seas the situation is different. In Burano there are 3 bar, 2 have sandwiches and burgers (schnitzel and ketchup) and € 5,50, the others a little more. The one where I had lunch was priced at € 4.50, a delicious sandwich (pictured above) even if the receipt said € 5, in short, they made me pay more than what was written. Trust me, bring your sandwiches from home and away.
2. Which ticket to take to save
Second advice. To get direct from Venice it takes 40 minutes but stops in Murano anyway (so if you want to do both destinations take advantage of it). Don't make the mistake of taking a single ride. First of all, go to the tobacconist's to buy tickets and not on the boat, you already save 1 €, you must also have in mind if you want to get to Burano or stop in Murano too. If you stop there are 4 tickets, 4 routes: Venice - Murano, Murano - Burano and back (although on the way back you will probably not stop in Murano again). If you take the day pass, this is 12 hours comes 18 €, but the single is € 7 which for three legs is € 21, save a few euros anyway.
3. Seats in the vaporetto
Last tip, i vaporettos are very crowded. If the weather is good or if it is hot, no problem, you can easily sit outside and get some cool breeze, but if you go in autumn or December then try to take the seats inside, even to sit on the ground. Forty minutes of travel is a long time to spend standing or to pass in the cold.
Dispassionate advice
Said this, Burano is beautiful and always worth a visit, be it the first, second or even third time you go to Venice. A ticket to Burano, whatever its cost, is a ticket that is worth the money. The final, dispassionate advice is to take as many photos as possible. The photos of the colorful houses, once back home, will fill your home with joy and positive memories and then, you will undoubtedly want to return as soon as possible to Venice and Burano to take more photos! Guaranteed!
