This is what my best friend Laura and I did on a weekend June last summer, with the desire to escape from the city but without a means of transport other than our bike. I well remember that at that time I was under examination and had a lot to study. But the heat and good weather outside kept me from concentrating. And so I figured I'd be able to study a lot better on one rock isolated!
Laura and I cycled to the station and jumped on the first one train to the sea, in our case destination Castiglioncello (THERE). Needless to say, the weather was wonderful, the clear sea and the feeling of freedom to reach the sea on two wheels was crazy!
Both on the site of Trenitalia that through the timetables in the stations it is easy to identify the trains that carry bicycles, just look for the bike icon. With a supplement of 3.50 €in addition to the normal ticket, you can transport your bike on all regional trains for 24 hours.
Just look for the special wagon, usually at the head or tail of the train, fix and tie the bike and wait for the train to stop at the station you want!
