Il La Carretta Restaurant it is found at Portoferraio, a little outside the historic center, you certainly can't get there on foot and it's quite complicated to reach even if you are not from the area. The restaurant is really very nice, with a room with a veranda outside, one inside and a small room for private dinners or receptions.
I was here for one price, they had booked the room and I must say that I ate very well. I immediately make it clear that, as I was a guest, I have no idea how much this has come to cost, although, I must say that the bill will not have been entirely cheap.
Having said that I ate really well with one crushes for appetizer, a white fornarina and two appetizer dishes of fish. Between these stuffed clams, white fish smoothie, octopus, crushes of various flavors and panzanella with fish and tomatoes.
Salted fish, directly brought to us with a tray with fire, tasty and really delicate, finally a sweet choice between different house specialties, I tasted a cheesecake phenomenal.
Al Stella Marina restaurant, also in Portoferraio, instead I ate at my expense, it was weeks that they told me that the Stella Marina is the place where you eat better fish in Portoferraio, so I tried. The last night I was in Elba I tried this restaurant and I must say that in my opinion it is a little overrated. Quite expensive, but basically average when it comes to fish.
Il local is beautiful, there is nothing to say, it is attached to the port, but the interior and the furnishings make you forget even this bad position, seen from the ships. 4 hot appetizers, per courses, are € 14 and are not abundant at all. There pasta it was delicious even though .... it was very salty, so much so that we thought, at first it was a desired effect -.- no, it wasn't.
Finally the Dolce, really great and a good glass of aleatico. Total price, 30€, bottle of water and glass of wine included. Not too much, but not too little either.
