Slow w low cost itineraries to discover a different and more authentic Venice. Here are the tips to discover a new city, the most beautiful Venice.
Venezia it's not just Rialto and Piazza San Marco, carnival masks and fake Murano glass candies. By now we know that, fortunately, that's not all, but what's beyond? What is the "real" city? How to find out? To allow visitors to discover the hidden face of the lagoon and of what is one of the most famous cities, but also less really known, the SlowVenice.
This small local tour operator was born from the passion of a group of Venetian environmental guides, in order to tell a territory particular like that of the lagoon. All the organized initiatives are based on respect and love for these fragile and beautiful places, with the intention of showing the most diverse faces of Venice. With the arrival of spring the calendar of activities begins to thicken and one above all "I slow Venice" resumes the weekly appointment. After the success of last summer, starting from 2 April 2015, continuing until 25 September, every Thursday afternoon a particular and interesting itinerary in the most authentic Venice will be proposed again.
The true Venetian soul is discovered, the one that is now still found in a few places and among these the Castello district: the labyrinth of corns that are knotted and among themselves, to discover the more everyday side of local life, new views, secret gardens, the stories related to the so-called "Nizioleti" (the white rectangles indicating the names of campi and calli) and curiosities about how Venice works. A walk that allows you to get to know lesser known aspects of the city, its history, the nature that inhabits it.
On Thursday of each week, at 15 pm, the meeting point is the ACTV landing stage of the Arsenale. Participating costs € 15 (reduced € 6, under 6 is free).
If you cannot participate in this initiative, why work during the week or for other reasons, check the Slow Venice website because new events are constantly updated. Some examples? Every day, starting from April 24, you can book aboat trip to the Valle Sacchetta fishing valley, on the edge of the North Lagoon; while on 1 and 2 May a new and more complex activity is proposed, two days to learn how to look at the city and photograph it thanks to itineraries dedicated to the "Invisible City" and "esoteric Venice".
