If you love Florence you will surely want to see it several times in your life, here's what to do in particular once you have visited the most touristic places.
Firenze it is a city full of surprises. Its characteristic is to be able to always be the same by continuing to change. The first time you visit Florence, there are some things that cannot be overlooked and an article from the editorial team of Expedia Explore draws a really exhaustive list on the things not to miss at least the first time you go to the city of Tuscany. But the second time you visit Florence, what can you go to do or find different?
In my opinion if the very first things to see must be there Uffizi Gallery Dome of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Vasari Corridor and other Florentine beauties, with the second visit you can let yourself go a little more. You can say "goodbye" to the lines to enter the exhibitions or guided tours and you can let yourself be distracted a little more by life in Florence.
Aperitif on the terrace in Florence
The first piece of advice I give is to look for at least a couple of terraces on which to have an aperitif looking at the Duomo of Florence. Florentines are crazy about terraces with a view. One of the places can be there Municipal Oblate Library, whose café has a crazy view of the Duomo. The library closes at midnight in the evening, except on Mondays which close at 19pm and Sundays which are always closed.
Another place to have an excellent aperitif on the terrace, much more refined, is here La Rinascente terrace which is accessed from Piazza della Repubblica.
The terrace is obviously located on the top floor, which can be reached by stairs or a lift. The tables are not very many and those with a view are very few. If you have time then book in advance, only wines and cocktails made with Tuscan brands are served here. The platters of cold cuts and cheeses are really excellent.
Once you have found the places to stay late in the evening, or at least relax after a day of walking and visiting, what can you do? There is something alternative to see and do than those made during the first visit.
Pharmaceutical Perfume Workshop Santa Maria Novella
In district of San Lorenzo, very close to the Santa Maria Novella station, is thePharmaceutical Perfume Workshop Santa Maria Novella. I also wanted to have the opportunity to visit its Museum, but for a first glance, the Workshop can also be used to make some purchases, the more curious can always integrate with a nice visit. The workshop is the oldest pharmacy in Italy, born in 1221. Here you can shop, recommended by very well-prepared orders. Entering is like taking a real journey through time. Inside there is also a tea and coffee room. The workshop is open every day from 9 to 20 and is a great place to shop and take home souvenirs.
Walk overlooking the Duomo to Villa Bardini
A walk that enchants, by sight and by flowering (to be preferred for this in the month of May or in any case in spring) is the one in Villa Bardini. The Villa is located on the San Giorgio 2 coast and can also be visited with a cumulative ticket that includes the well-known Boboli Gardens. Villa Bardini is indeed an exhibition center that hosts temporary exhibitions, but outside it is also a very pleasant walk that with its wisteria looks at the Duomo of Florence, framing it. Here is also held every year Feast of Wisteria, just in the month of May.
Concert plus dinner at the Teatro del Sale
Another gem not to be underestimated in Florence is the dinner with concert possibly, at Salt Theater. The restaurant has been open in Florence since 2003. The interesting thing about this place is that you eat as if you were in the dark indeed exactly like in a theater. The dinner generally buffet but also served, then leaves space for a concert or a theatrical event, each one directly seated in their own place, because at the theater! There kitchen is open and dishes are refined, a pleasant environment where you can relax and enjoy excellent food and where you want, bring your own, such as homemade jams or marmalades. A beautiful place, especially different from the usual.
