Eataly Smeraldo in Milan, the temple of good food and good regional cuisine, not to be missed.
A new destination has been added to Milan for food and Italian lovers: Eataly Smeraldo.
The new Farinetti store was built in what, until a few years ago, was one of the most important stages in Milan, where Italian and international artists have passed through, the most important of which are immortalized at the entrance as a testimony of a past, unfortunately. now past and finished. But now that the space has become something else, it has become a new destination for the Milanese and tourists who, out of habit or passing through, will cross this stage in a different way than before.
The Eataly formula is undoubtedly interesting although, in my humble opinion, in this space the layout, furnishings and formal choices are a bit scattered and inconsistent. The most fascinating part is undoubtedly that a ground floor, where you can immediately admire the fruit and vegetable carts. It is a kind of modern square, a traditional market in a contemporary space. Of course, the prices are not those of local markets, but the presentation has its own charm.
In the large space, arranged on three levels, it is possible to buy products and stop to eat in one of the many food corners of the structure. On the first floor, in addition to the fruit and vegetable carts, it is possible to find kitchen utensils, books and small household goods. There is also a bakery, a refrigerator and a beautiful and cozy chocolate waterfall that tempts even the least gluttonous to buy chocolates and bars of all kinds and flavors.
In the foreground it is possible to stop for a quick lunch or just a snack and the offer is very varied, the prices are displayed and clearly visible, although some are not exactly low cost, but you can choose according to your pockets. In addition to the refreshment points there is a large counter for meats and cheeses, another for meat, and then fresh pasta, mozzarella made on the spot, craft beer, bulk wine in spectacular barrels and many Italian products. The wine offer on the top floor is very wide and complete, with easy indications to understand the combination of the product with the dishes.
There are also two large kitchens where slow food courses, workshops for children and nutritional education lessons are held. So the space is transformed not only into sales but becomes a place for learning and sharing, for education and acquisition of knowledge, traditions and good practices.
In the middle of the large exhibition space there is a stage where piano and instruments await renowned and emerging artists who will perform in what was one of the most important Milanese theaters for many years.
Eataly is located in Piazza XXV Aprile, near Corso Como, one of the coolest streets in Milan, halfway between Garibaldi station and Moscova metro stop, in the center of Milan, it is easily accessible by public transport, but for those who can't stop using the car there is also a large subway parking where it is possible to leave the car.
If you happen to pass by, take a tour, if only so you can say you saw it and can tweet it to your friends.
