Finally, for a couple of weeks, the long-awaited summer has also shown up in Milan. And so, the speeches captured around the city that basically materialized in complaints about the abundant autumn-style rainfall, have finally given way to as many exchanges of complaints about the scorching and humid heat. With the arrival of heat, cities seek refreshment in the 'naturalistic' areas of the city: the trees of a park or the cool flow of a river, in Rome the Tiber and in Turin the Po '. Now, Milan does not have a real river, but it does have a canal, or rather two canals, and as our dear old Accorsi taught us in the nineties 'two is better than one, right?'
To relax after one hot Milanese day, there is nothing better than an aperitif in a chiringuito on the banks of a fake river -il Naviglio- and precisely at Sugar. The full name of the venue is Sugar Cocktail Therapy and it is a shack that includes a dozen tables in the open air, lying on an expanse of green synthetic grass. The freshness of the furnishings and the Baden Powell park located opposite, manage for a moment to make you forget you are in the city.
Unlike many other places where theappetizer provides a fixed price, which is around 8-9 euro, here with 5 euros for a beer and 6 euros for a cocktail you also receive a tasty and abundant platter of omelettes, sandwiches and pizzete, as well as a basket of more classic chips.
The Sugar is one of those corners of the city that wakes up in the summer, precisely from April to October, months during which its tables are constantly busy, not to mention the crowd of people that gathers on the sidewalk and in the middle of the street opposite. The beauty of Sugar is also that it is on the Naviglio, but at the same time it is not, as it remains hidden in a small parallel street, leaving it isolated from the chaotic context that surrounds it.
In short, Sugar calls summer, and if you pass by don't forget to taste one of their fabulous fruit cocktails!
