Breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner: excellent tips to immerse yourself in the gastronomic traditions of the Romagna city.
I have already vaguely praised the culinary talents of Romagna in a previous article, but I have not yet talked about how well you eat in my city in particular: Cesena.
For whatever reason you are in this welcoming town in the hills and one step away from the sea, I would like to advise you where to satisfy your appetite, from morning to evening, that is from breakfast to dinner.
Cesena: tips for breakfast
Re di Pane is a bakery-cafe which both lovers of sweet and savory breakfasts agree with: croissants, donuts, muffins, focaccias, pizzas, to be tasted overlooking a tiny and pretty square one step away from the city's cathedral. Must: the cream brioches.
Outside the walls of the historic center, for a classic Italian breakfast standing up, I suggest instead one of the historic pastry shops in the city, beans, fixed stop at the return of our (now distant) evenings at the disco. The counter that welcomes you at the entrance is overflowing with goodies of all kinds, really difficult to choose.
Lunch in Cesena
Returning to the historic center for lunch, Broth it is really a little gem. It is a pure pasta factory: on the counter there is in fact the offer of fresh pasta of the day prepared in the laboratory at the back. Essentially, then i first courses of the Romagna tradition for a quick lunch or a hot Sunday lunch.
It does not hurt the context, furnished with taste and originality, in accordance with the type of meal consumed. The seats are limited and the prices average.
For those undecided between breakfast and lunch I recommend going to Scottadito for a delicious brunch with fantastic value for money, around € 13 for a buffet that lacks nothing: centrifuged, French toast, croissants, waffles, cold cuts, salmon sandwiches… Be careful because this formula exists only for holidays!
The dinner is also good, albeit with different prices, where I recommend the burgers, in this case the fish ones that are innovative in the combinations and really excellent.
Where to dine in Cesena
At dinner time there is really spoiled for choice since Cesena has been developing in recent years an attention to the catering sector that is truly rare for such a small town.
Staying on a classic Ristorante Pizzeria you must not get lost The 3 Popes: here it was customary to celebrate birthdays during schools due to the high number of seats it can hold and the central location (Piazza del Popolo). However, I have rediscovered this place a few years ago, when with the new management there has been a significant improvement: the menu proposal is wide and the quality of the ingredients excellent, the pizza is extremely good and the service fast. Unbeatable prices!
The most historic tavern in Cesena instead is called Michiletta: more limited and refined variety of the menu, respecting the Romagna tradition, but with a verve of innovation that has allowed the tavern not to lose its primacy. The atmosphere is intimate and warm.
