Levanto it is a little gem of a city that I recently discovered and that I fell in love with. I had never been to Liguria and having the opportunity, thanks to #weLevanto, not only to see wonderful naturalistic places but to meet as many people with disarming simplicity of mind, was a huge gift for me.
I arrived on Friday evening and unfortunately the rain did not help to enhance the colorful houses of the city. Levanto changes face according to the time, when the sun comes out it changes and the colors reminded me a little of the island of Burano, in Venice, famous for its houses painted in different colors.
It was a travel haunt, a way to get to know each other live. I was staying atHotel Garden which together withHotel Oasis it hosted part of us for a few days, also offering us maximum availability for boat activities and bike rides (pity for surfing, the weather was not really on our side).
The Garden Hotel is a small hotel in three stars, a few steps from the beach, which overlooks the seafront. I was greeted by Damiano who, after showing me the way by phone, welcomed me and handed me the keys, a triple that I shared with other people.
The room was really spacious, not one of those triple rooms where the third bed is added only to satisfy the customer, obtaining the opposite effect. Clean, neat and simple. The comfortable bathroom, equipped with two towels each, with daily change, shower gel, phone - not the one on the wall, which I personally find very uncomfortable - in short, everything you need.
La breakfast in the morning really abundant, there was really something for everyone. Brioches, cakes, three types of jam, honey, rusks, cereal and white bread, gluten-free biscuits, biscuits and for American breakfast lovers: salami, ricotta, two other types of cheese and raw ham. What did I like the most? There wide choice of tea, and for me, who love infusions, you can understand what I found in front of me!
Levanto is a seaside city, without a doubt, but if in addition to relaxation you want to take the cycle path between Levanto and Bonassola through the tunnels of the old railway, the Hotel Garden provides bicycles for guests. You can go beyond Bonassola and get to Framura, do not worry it is a cycle path within everyone's reach.
The staff is really helpful and kind, I personally found Damiano an exquisite person, as well as sporty since he proposed a descent by mountain bike along the path known by the name "Jun du Begun". It starts from Pian Pontasco - do not worry there is a bike shuttle that can take you to the top and then only the descent by bike - and you get down to Bonassola, then from here you can safely descend to Levanto.
Personally I found the Hotel Garden an ideal place for holidays in Levanto and Five lands, simple but clean and, without a shadow of a doubt, in an absolutely strategic position for getting around the Ligurian surroundings by train, on foot, by boat and even by bike.
