La spring is for sure the best time to spend a weekend in some Italian cities, Easter and other holidays are another opportunity to take a breath of fresh air from the usual routine and escape for a few days.
There are those who on vacation never miss a detail show, those who set off on purpose to visit one, while for others it is a fallback in case of rain ... in any case it can always be useful to know what is planned in the galleries of the city during our break. Here is a small review of some of the most important exhibitions scheduled in Italy for the next few months, in this post with the closing in March and April.
Expressionism (Villa Manin, Passariano di Cordoipo - UD) up to 4 March
Last days to visit the exhibition dedicated to the “Die Brücke” movement, the foundation stone of Expressionism, among the big names we find Kirchner, Heckel, Nolde and Pechstein.

Salvador Dalì - The Dalì universe (Diocesan Museum of Sant'Apollonia - Venice) until 18 March
If the great exhibition at the Palazzo Reale in 2010 was not enough for you, you still have a few weeks to admire a lesser known collection of great artistic value that also includes graphics and sculptures.
Russian avant-garde (Royal hotel of the poor, Palermo) up to 20 March
At the end of the bilateral year of culture Italy - Russia 2011, the exhibition provides an overview and an exceptional opportunity to admire the masterpieces of the most representative Russian artists of the early twentieth century including Malevich, Rodcenko and Chagall.
Arte povera International (Castello di Rivoli, Rivoli - TO) up to 15 April
Inside the halls of the Savoy residence there is an interweaving of works by the protagonists of the poor season in comparison with international masterpieces of the time.
Van Gogh and Gauguin's journey (Palazzo Ducale, Genoa) up to 15 April
The journey is the central theme of the exhibition, also understood as an interior adventure, which develops through European and American masterpieces of the last two centuries. The heart of the exhibition, however, lies in the 40 works of Van Gogh and in the immense “Where do we come from? Who we are? Where do we go?" by Gauguin.
Charms of distant lands (Palazzo Magnani, Reggio Emilia) up to 29 April
The gaze of Italian painters towards the East, between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries through the works of some artists, including Hayez and Fontanesi.
