Castiglione della Pescaia it is one of the best known Maremma resorts; it is a very lively town, with an interesting historic center that climbs up a small hill. If you make the effort to climb among the old stone houses, perhaps at sunset, you will have a beautiful view over the whole coast to the south, up to Monte Argentario, while in front of you there are the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago.
In the upper part there is also the town cemetery, if I point it out it is because there are the graves of some famous writers: Italo Calvino and also Carlo Fruttero: both had chosen as their retreat the pine forest of Roccamare, a fascinating place located a few kilometers from here
All the local nightlife takes place on Corso della Libertà, with clothing stores, ice cream parlors, cafes and restaurants. There is also a lot of life along the sea, especially at the bathing establishments. To eat, however, I give you my low cost suggestion, which is located before the town, in Piazza Gramsci. The pizzeria is called Pizza by the meter and it's also takeaway. There are outdoor tables, you set them yourself by taking the necessary inside the room. You can order some flavors of pizza which are served on half meter long wooden boards. The pizza is already cut into small squares, and it is delicious. The expense, given the DIY, is really modest. It cannot be booked.
