It remains exposed until 4 November the Mural of Milwaukee by Keith Haring in the Hall of the Ports of the Palace of Caserta: the exhibition was inaugurated last June 2nd.
Two and a half meters high and thirty meters long, the Milwaukee Mural is certainly one of the most important works of art: a collection of 24 wood panels which were sent by the artist to the University of Marquette in Milwaukee. On the one hand, a sequence of children e four-legged dogs which opposes the other party made up of a plurality of subjects who recall the figure of breakdance. All interspersed with representations of the famous icons of his art such as televisions with wings, the man with the snake's head and dogs.
It must be said that the central figure of the dancer certainly captures the attention: the head is replaced by a television with the number 83 on the monitor; another emblematic figure of Haring's art is the face with three eyes, which can also be found inside the installation. The iconographic research of this work is the summary of his experimentation and his genius: the tributes to the vitality of the metropolis, the birth of culture writer of the big apple and love for animals.
Inside the exhibition there are not only the 24 panels but also one selection of photographs and videos documenting its creation. It will also be possible to admire other works by Haring belonging to the “Terrae Motus” collection, a collection of the Neapolitan gallery owner Lucio Amelio.
