    To eat at the restaurant Peschici Station it is an experience to try if you are in the Gargano. I admit that this place is not very inviting from the outside: an old structure with a somewhat decadent look located right next to the building that is at the terminus of the coastal line of the Ferrovie del Gargano. Probably if someone hadn't brought me there and assured me of the quality of the food I think I would never have stopped. In this case, however, the saying is true "do not judge a book by its cover" and I advise you to come in and sit at one of the spartan tables.



    The lunch is extremely rich… so much that we raised the white flag after only the appetizer! The kitchen has continued to release cold dishes of all kinds: from raw ham accompanied by kiwi to marinated sardines with red onion, passing through various versions of seafood salad, fish fillets prepared in the most different ways, the inevitable bruschetta with tomato, local cheese plates and other things that I can't even remember, all accompanied by an excellent focaccia made with pizza dough. After this rich premise we arrived at the hot seafood appetizers and it was the turn of mussels, mantis shrimp and snails. We let ourselves be tempted again by tasting a slice of pizza… after which our stomachs, not accustomed to the abundant Apulian cuisine, begged for mercy. A creamy lemon sorbet worthily concluded this roundup of genuine dishes and the result of local recipes.



    This is definitely a restaurant suitable for trying the Gargano cuisine, the menu is varied and will easily meet everyone's tastes with simple but really tasty proposals, here you could taste many of the traditional local dishes that I recommended in the previous post. There were some girls with us vegetarian and vegan to whom an alternative menu was proposed, which respected their preferences without however straying away from local quality and typicality. The same goes for one of our celiac travel companions: who should eat gluten-free foods in this restaurant you will find all kinds of dishes prepared with the right ingredients.

    One of the strong points of La Stazione, together with the cuisine, is certainly the price: consulting the menu you can see that, even if you taste a bit of everything and get your fill, the expense will hardly exceed € 25/30 per person. Just to give an example, first courses never cost more than € 10, even when it comes to fish.


    The restaurant does not have a precise address, so here I will leave you some useful information to find it: it is located next to the Peschici station, which is about 5 km from the town, to reach it it is almost essential to have a car, as the line railway has a reputation for not being particularly efficient. Nearby are the enchanting Calenella bay and the interesting Necropolis of Monte Pucci, an archaeological park surrounded by greenery.
