Mini guide of Cagliari: what to see and buy

Cagliari does not offer great museums you collect them unless you are passionate about Sardinian bronzes. The city, of prehistoric origins, however, offers interesting historical insights because over the centuries it has been the object of conquest by different peoples.

From the necropolis of Tuvixeddu sign of the Phoenician-Punic city at the Roman amphitheater. From the Elephant Tower to the Aragonese fortifications such as La Torre del Prezzemolo in Cala Mosca. Up to the signs of the Second World War and the examples of fascist architecture visible in the Saint Remy Bastion. Walking through the Castello, Marina, Stampace and Villanova districts it is possible to cross over 2000 years of history. You just have to choose your preferred period.

Don't expect one cycle city there are too many flat roads, however, it is increasingly possible to rent bicycles in the city. The bus they are a bit slow in the city while they are a practical and quick way to reach the beach. Line P is taken in via Roma towards Poetto.

If you park lovers we recommend a walk (you can rent a bike) to Molentargius park. A fantastic park squeezed between the salt pans and some waterways that cross Cagliari in a non-area area where the traffic of the city magically disappears.

In Cagliari there are more surf shops what surfers. Beach tennis is played all year round and there are over 50 beach courts in season. And before the beach tennis fashion broke out, beach volleyball was king. Kite surfing, Wind Surf and all sports related to the sea can be practiced with a few euros. If you love beach sports you just have to go to the Poetto and you will find inspiration.

If you managed to arrive with a semi-empty suitcase I recommend a pit stop at a deli. The inevitable bottarga (mullet eggs suitable for aperitifs and first courses) and some cheese (Sardinian flower or Su Casizolu). Before taking the bus back to the airport, a few hundred meters away is the The Galley in Viale La Playa right on the seafront next to the port and is not a pharmacy like the shops that haunt the Marina. Get advice or inspiration from them tastings.
