moneglia is a small village in Liguria, in the Riviera di Levante, overlooking a quiet and lush bay.
It is located not far from the Cinque Terre and is in fact an excellent starting point for visiting, by boat or train, the famous and picturesque Ligurian villages so well known also abroad.
Distance approx 60 km from Genoa and to reach Moneglia, both from Sestri Levante and Deiva Marina, you have to queue, wait for the green and go through the tunnels that connect the towns. There are several equipped bathrooms, some free areas with showers, many bars and children's play areas. Another element that makes this place safe for children is the fact that the water is shallow for many meters and a short distance from the shore there is an artificial barrier of rocks, which breaks the waves and calms the sea, leaving the freedom to swim and swim. play in the water in complete tranquility.
Despite being a small town it is a rich offer of bars and restaurants, some overlooking the central promenade, others in the internal caruggio, the typical narrow and pedestrian street of all Ligurian villages, where there are shops and small businesses.
There is also no shortage of bakeries where you can enjoy the famous Ligurian focaccia, from the traditional one to the typical one with cheese and the countless variations prepared to satisfy all tastes. It's possible also reach Moneglia by train and from here leave for Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore, and for the other renowned tourist resorts of the Riviera di Levante. If instead you prefer to do boat excursions and admire the landscape from the sea, Moneglia also has a small port and ferries leave for the Cinque Terre, Camogli, Portofino and Portovenere.

Since 2012 it has been included in the list of Most beautiful villages in Italy, an association that brings together small towns of historical and artistic interest to be safeguarded and in which to promote tourism and local identity.
On the hills of Moneglia around the year 1100, when there was the Maritime Republic of Genoa, two fortresses were built: to the east the Torre Villafranca, partially destroyed by war bombings, and to the west the fortress of Monleone, inside which a liberty castle was then built from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the town and the sea of this small but pretty Ligurian center.
