Do you love sport, relaxation and family-run B&B? Here is a post suitable for you to plan a holiday in the beautiful Cagliari.
I had the pleasure of passing a weekend in Cagliari almost by chance, joining for pleasure the trip of my boyfriend who was taking part in an important Beach Tennis tournament in this city.
It is for this reason that I had the opportunity to experience Cagliari "sea side". The Poetto is the city beach which stretches for about 8 km and overlooks the Gulf of the Angels, in the central southern part of Sardinia: white sand, crystal clear sea and a fantastic view of the Saddle of the Devil, the promontory that divides this beach from that of Calamosca.
Poetto, a beach for everyone
The beach offers various opportunities for both sportsmen - as it is very well equipped with playgrounds, diving schools, sailing, etc. - both for families looking for relaxation thanks to the presence of comfortable bathing establishments.
In this case we were guests of "Il Lido", a very large, well equipped and clean establishment. Inside there is even a small pharmacy.
In the rear part of the beach, it winds the seaside, recently modernized and widely used by locals for jogging, the walks by bike or on foot, with different lanes for each purpose.
There is no shortage of kiosks, bars and supermarkets for quick and cheap lunches.
Where to sleep: B&B At Fourth
A further favorable note that made these days in Cagliari even more pleasant was the accommodation at B&B At Fourth; I couldn't have made a better choice. The quality / price ratio of this place was very satisfactory for our needs.
It is a Family run B&B: the son Marco and the mother (really helpful and kind people), however, do not reside in the structure which is instead at the complete disposal of the guests. The house is on one floor which enjoys a large garden with relaxation areas and a breakfast table which is included in the price. It is very quiet, which is due to both the tranquility of the area and the advantage of being an independent cottage with only two double bedrooms, so the number of guests is limited.
The bathrooms are external to the rooms but private for each room; There is also a kitchen made available to guests.
I also really appreciated the taste with which this delightful little house is furnished. The furniture is that of the past, and the floors are magnificent: traditional, colorful and with Sicilian influences that guarantee this B&B a retro taste.
Bicycles are also available to guests of the structure, which can be used free of charge.
Old Cagliari
I could not leave without first seeing the old Cagliari, from Poetto it can be reached easily in 10 minutes by bus (the stop is also convenient from the B&B).
It is a city with many ups and downs that recalls the countries of Spain and Portugal, I appreciated the mix of tastes and influences, typical of our south and the islands.
One last tip: I unfortunately missed the celebrations of Sant'Efisio, the most revered saint in the city, which I discovered occurred just a few days before our arrival: the locals told me that it is an event that is really worth not missing because it is still very tied to the traditional way of celebrating it given the profound devotion of the inhabitants of Cagliari towards this saint. These festivities are celebrated in the first days of May.
