Spiz restaurant in Wroclaw, a historic brewery

Wroclaw, which in English translates as Wroclaw, is a beautiful town in Lower Silesia, in southwestern Poland. The Oder River that crosses it makes it an important port and a thriving agricultural city.

Entering Wroclaw, one is a little taken aback. Almost you don't feel like you're in Poland. The architecture, the layout of the city, the buildings, all evoke a much more Bavarian than Polish atmosphere. Leafing through a guide, I discover that, in fact, from 1741 until 1945, the end of the Second World War, Wroclaw was part of Germany. It was the Potsdam Conference that annexed, under Soviet pressure, Breslau to Poland, as a sort of reward for the unjustified atrocities committed by the Germans against the Polish people.

On one side of the main square, in the historic center, under the municipality, stands an ancient e characteristic building which houses one of the oldest and most renowned breweries in the city: the Spiz restaurant. Equipped with outdoor tables and two internal rooms, it also offers customers the opportunity to eat and drink a beer at the counter located to the right of the room.

Entering the restaurant and going down the stairs to access the internal rooms, one is immediately invaded by an intense smell of hops. Down, just in front of the stairs, a shop window shows us big steel barrels with beer in full fermentation. From there you enter the dining rooms. The environment is a bit dark, typical of the brewery. Soft lights, solid wood furnishings. There cuisine is typical Polish and the prices are negligibly higher than average. The beer they produce is one of the best in the city and is served with a typical lard cream flavored with garlic, bacon and other spices that spread on bread is a real pleasure.

In summary, I feel I can assert that we cannot pass through Wroclaw without stopping here at Spiz.
