A museum card useful for different types of tourists: here is all the information to buy, activate and make the most of the Firenze Card. Ready to go?
Why are you planning to come to Firenze?
To greet a friend, to taste the steak or maybe for visit its extraordinary cultural and artistic offer? If this is the reason then there is something that can help and accompany you in this pleasant but also a bit demanding activity: Florence Card.
Firenze Card: how it works
The Firenze Card is a museum card that has already existed for years and that is growing, in the number of buyers, in the services offered, in the museums included and unfortunately also in the price.
Right now (May 2019) you can buy it for 85 euros per person, the validity is 72 hours from the first activation (i.e. from the first use) and the places to visit included, including museums and monuments, are just over seventy between Florence city and some towns in the surrounding area.
Why buy the Firenze Card
Everyone is in it, big and less big: the David of Michelangelo Venus of Botticelli Brunelleschi's Dome, Palazzo Vecchio...
However, the Firenze Card is very useful for different types of tourists: for families, for example, because every adult can include a minor on their card; for those who stay a few days in the city, who have the opportunity to plan their visits by organizing them intelligently, without having to book admission to the most visited museums.
At the moment, access to the Dome is not guaranteed and reservations are required. To book you need to collect the free ticket at the ticket office in Piazza San Giovanni 7 and make the reservation at the special totem. ATTENTION: the collection of the ticket acts as an 'activation' of the Firenzecard, starting from which the 72 hours of validity will begin to run.
Temporary suspension of priority access to Giotto's Bell Tower, Baptistery of San Giovanni, Crypt of Santa Reparata and Museo dell'Opera del Duomo.
The Card is also interesting for those visitors who may not be in Florence for the first time and who have the opportunity to visit museums or places a little less crowded, such as certain municipal museums, or the Medici villas or the most recent openings. ...
To be able to take advantage of the priority entrance to the Uffizi Gallery and Galleria dell'Accademia it is necessary to make a compulsory reservation, free of charge in the following ways:

Recent openings
Fortunately, in Florence there are not only the Uffizi, which for heaven's sake are a super museum to see (I go back every winter, in those few weeks of low season, to enjoy them in peace ...).
The city presents new entries: from Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, all restored and refurbished in an amazing way a few years ago, al Museum of the Innocents, which enhances the artistic history of the institution for children but also the human history of the foundlings who were abandoned.
And we have the Zeffirelli Foundation Museum, which opened a few months ago in the San Firenze complex and which is not yet part of the Firenze Card but is about to enter.
Finally I point out the new spaces of the Convent of Santa Maria Novella, stolen from the Carabinieri School which has moved elsewhere and which are truly fascinating.
Lifestyle
As for other services, not museums, there is another card that goes with this one and it is the Florence Card +.
It costs 7 euros per person, allows you to travel by public transport for three days and many businesses are partners: they give discounts or give small items. The Card + cannot be purchased alone, but only upon completion of the museum card.
