A maitre who is actually a lawyer (and as such is addressed) and who is ecstatic in front of women who eat the kid with their hands (it wasn't me of course ...)
He is also a singer and composer of typical arbresh music and knows perfectly every dish he serves in his restaurant.
Il ham is of own production and from what they told me it was very good. I have tasted everything else and I must say that there was nothing to complain about.
I'm talking about the restaurant "Kamastra"That in Albanian dialect indicates the caldera that is placed on the fireplace to cook or heat water. It is located at center of Civita, inside what was an old spinning mill and which today welcomes "strangers" and locals who have come up here to try the typical cuisine of the area. The ambience is rustic and furnished with furniture that belonged to the family and beautiful soft lights.
They serve traditional dishes but with an extra point of modernity (especially in the presentation). We tried things with unpronounceable but very good names, such as: "Strangùle me 'nenez euml”Or Cavatelli alla 'nenesa' (with ricotta and a horticultural herb from Pollino); "Hullonj euml; ra me bakalla and mulikat”- 'Dish of the reapers', that is tagliatelle with cod with mollicata (stale bread passed in a pan with red pepper).
Then there was the kid which according to my companions was delicious. There would also be a photo to testify the pleasure of one of the diners but, unfortunately, it has been lost. The winery also offers Calabrian and Pollino wines (the one of the house in Calabria generally I don't find it particularly good, so I don't recommend it) and maybe you will even be able to hear Enzo Filardi playing an arbersh song.
